Will There Be Peace On Earth?

Will There Be Peace On Earth?

Is it possible to find peace in our lifetime? Between police shootings, riots, racism, politics, shootings, and acts of terrorism peace seems to be just an illusion. Is peace a grandiose dream or something to be grasped?

Will There Be Peace?

Over the last six months, there has been so much turmoil. Since June, hardly a week has gone by when there has not been a terrorist attack, shooting, riots, destruction, and death. On top this, the election has been one that has caused division, not peace.

Throughout all this I am convinced that people are hurting, our nation is hurting and our world is hurting.

So what is the answer? Will all the hurt go away? Can unity among races be achieved? Will there ever be peace?

In short, only God is the one that can bring peace.

Read through the following verses.

Psalms 46
God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,
though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah
4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy habitation of the Most High.
5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved;
God will help her when morning dawns.
6 The nations rage, the kingdoms totter;
he utters his voice, the earth melts.
7 The LORD of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah
8 Come, behold the works of the LORD,
how he has brought desolations on the earth.
9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
he breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the chariots with fire.
10 “Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!”
11 The LORD of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

Be still and know that He is God! Sometimes in our unrest and trials, we need to just SHUTUP and be still.

Silence……. God is still there in the turmoil and he will be God in the end.

In the book of Isaiah, there is a prophecy that is written about Jesus. In this prophecy, it shows how Jesus will come and bring true justice. He will come and bring peace. Everlasting peace!

Isaiah 11: 1-9
There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse,
and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit. 2 And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD. 3 And his delight shall be in the fear of the LORD. He shall not judge by what his eyes see, or decide disputes by what his ears hear, 4 but with righteousness he shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth; and he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall kill the wicked. 5 Righteousness shall be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his loins. 6 The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, and the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together; and a little child shall lead them. 7 The cow and the bear shall graze; their young shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. 8 The nursing child shall play over the hole of the cobra, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder’s den. 9 They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.

But there is a peace that can be had now. This is a personal peace.

Romans 5:1
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Our peace comes from knowing Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

Admit that you are a sinner – Romans 3:23
Believe in Jesus – 1 Corinthians 15:3-5
Confess Christ as Lord – Romans 10:9-13

Check out this post for an in-depth explanation.

Christians should live at peace with others.

Romans 12:18
If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

Romans 14:19
So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.

As Christians, we should do all that is possible to pursue peace with those around us. You cannot control another person, but you can control yourself.

So will you choose to live at peace with other people even when you do not agree?

Will you seek peace when evil has been done to you? Will you be at peace with someone of a different race or political beliefs?

Will you rest in the fact that God is in control and will bring the ultimate peace?

What will you do on your part to promote peace? Note this last question is not rhetorical. I would love to hear from you.
