Oh, The Places You Will Go! Guest post by Dede Zambrowicz
This past Sunday, was our Senior Breakfast. Our theme was, Oh the Places You Will Go! By Dr. Seuss. At this breakfast one of our LIFE Group leaders took parts of the poem and put together along with her words, a challenge to our students. I thought you would enjoy readying this. All bold excerpts are taken from the book, Oh The Places You Will God, by Dr. Seuss. Enjoy.
O the Places you will go! By Dede Zambrowicz
Today is your day
You’re off to Great Places!
You’re off and away!
We have been so blessed to be a part of your lives as you have grown and changed.
We are very proud of each one of you. You’ve come far. As you head off into your next adventure you’ll encounter new challenges.
I’m sorry to say so but, sadly, it’s true
That Bang-ups and Hang-ups
Can happen to you
Yes, with those challenges you’ll find yourself in some hard places at times. Maybe you will encounter some obstacles or you might even find yourself stuck.
And when you’re in a slump,
You’re not in for much fun.
Is not easily done
In Luke 18:27, Jesus tells us that what is impossible with men is possible with God. The key word here is WITH, with God. We are told in John 15:5, Jesus is the vine and we are the branches. We are told to abide in Him and that apart from Jesus we can do Nothing! It’s only in abiding in God that we are able to do anything at al. It’s because of Jesus we can live life abundantly and do anything. Philippians 4:13 say’s: “I can do all things through Him who gives me strength.” Trust your God when you are making your life choices.
You’ll look up and down streets. Look’em over with care.
About some you will say, “I don’t choose to go there.”
With your head full of brans and your shoes full of feet,
You’re too smart to go down any not-so-good street.
When you make your choices, whom will you turn to for help? Who will you choose to follow? The choice is becoming yours. You are soon on your own. So who will your follow: The crowd, the new fad, or the new religion? Or will you say as Joshua 24:15 says, “But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
On and on you will hike,
And I know you’ll hike far
And face up to your problems
Whatever they are.
So as you walk through your life and your problems come and go, along with the good times, there is one thing to know. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. Matthew 17:20 says, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, “Move from here to there’ and it will move.” Nothing will be impossible for you.
Be your name Buxbaum or Bixby or Bray
Or Mordecai Ali Van Allen O’Shea,
You’re off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting.
So…get on your way!
