Provers 2:6 For the Lord gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;
Since wisdom is taking knowledge and applying it skillfully in our daily lives, and since wisdom comes from God, then we need to learn how to make wise decisions based on God’s Word. When situations come up in our lives that need wisdom here are a few things to think about.
First, begin to pray about your situation and ask God for wisdom in dealing with it.
Second, find out all the information so that you can make an informed decision.
Third, examine God’s Word for wisdom or principles that you can apply to making that decision. Principles are truths that can be applied to different situations, such as “loving others as yourself” can be applied to many decisions.
Fourth, talk to godly men and women in your life, spouse (you should strive to be on the same page), pastors, parents and others for their insight. If advise is contrary to what God’s Word says then do not listen to it. But we will often find GREAT wisdom in the insight and prayers from others.
Fifth continue to pray until you have you have peace or direction from God. Often God will speak to you through those various means to give us direction.
Sixth: WAIT – Sometimes it just takes time working through these steps.
