What kind of faith do you have?
Hebrews 11:1 Faith is being sure of what we hope for. It is being certain of what we do not see. (NIrv)
Bottom Line: “When I hear what Jesus has done, it helps me believe who Jesus is.” Principle from Upward Sports
Faith is such a hard word to understand and yet we at the same time practice it everyday of our lives. Our every day faith in things are there because of previous experience, wisdom from others, or knowledge about that particular item.
For example: Each day I get into my car and I have faith that it will get me back and forth from work to home. It is by my experience that I know that my car will transport me to where I need to go.
When it comes to Christianity we hear often about having faith. The word Faith in for many carries the weight and meaning of having a blind faith. The more I talk with people, who are not followers of Christ and even many who are followers, the more I find that this is the view that people tend to hold towards Christianity.
There have been times where I have even questioned my faith and thought it was more of a blind faith. But as I have studied throughout the years regarding this topic, I become more and more convinced that faith in who Christ is and what He has done is certain. I no longer have a blind faith but one that clings to facts and truths about Jesus that has transformed my life through faith in Him.
Let us talk about what Jesus has done that helps us believe who He is.
The Apostle John, who wrote the book of John, wrote 7 proofs of who Jesus was. And that was through the miracles that Jesus had done. Now John only recorded 7 miracles but we know that Jesus performed many miracles while on earth. Here is the list of 7:
- Changing water into wine in John 2:1-11
- Healing the royal official’s son in Capernaum in John 4:46-54
- Healing the paralytic at Bethesda in John 5:1-18
- Feeding the 5000 in John 6:5-14
- Jesus’ walk on water in John 6:16-24
- Healing the man born blind in John 9:1-7
- Raising of Lazarus in John 11:1-45
John recorded this and many other things that Jesus said and did for a purpose. John 20:30 Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.
So we begin to see how because of the things that Jesus has done, we can have faith and believe in who He is.
Do you have faith in Jesus? Has there ever been a time that you have asked Jesus to be your Savior?
Our prayer is that you would see with certainty the truth of who Jesus is and choose to follow Him.
I have read several books over the years that have helped me with this subject. The book a Case for Christ and anything that Lee Strobel has written are really good reads for this topic. Below is a link to the book.
